Behind the Scenes: Meet the Dwell Vine

Last week, we introduced you to the Shopping Vine blogs. For the next four weeks, we’ll be highlighting the authors behind these amazing blogs. Today, we’re going further in depth with the Dwell Vine and its author, Tanja Kern.

What got you started in blogging? I was a magazine writer for several trade and consumer publications, including some of the Better Homes & Gardens magazines, when I was approached by SHOP.COM to do some writing.

Why do you love to blog? I love to write and I love home decor, so it’s the perfect blend of two worlds. Blogging for Dwell Vine allows me to do all the window shopping in the world, and I get to relay my findings and ideas to our readers. I also love the web as a medium because it allows us to report instantly on what’s happening in design and new products.

What’s your favorite topic to write about?
New product launches are my favorite topics to write about. It always amazes me the time, effort and energy it takes to transform a product idea into reality… and then to find the consumers who will buy it! 

What’s your favorite item you’ve purchased on SHOP.COM?
Definitely my Le Creuset French Oven. Just looking at it makes me want to cook something.

Describe yourself in one sentence:
I’m a practical romantic who likes to create a world around me as I dream it should be, both at home and in my writing.

What’s your idea of a perfect Saturday afternoon?
By Saturday afternoon, I am usually done with projects around the house so I’m looking for ways to relax and unwind: read a book, go for a walk to a local coffee shop, or check out an indie film at the local independent cinema.
