Recently, Taiwan Powerline had the opportunity to catch up with your very own Motives Assistant Manager, Amanda Wall, to get her thoughts on Motives and why she loves the brand.
Amanda works with the International Motives product lines and carefully considers global makeup and market trends when proposing new additions to the product lines. READ below to learn the how and why behind Motives in an international market like Taiwan.
Powerline: How do you discover a new product for Motives?
Amanda Wall: First, I research the upcoming season’s makeup and fashion trends. I really enjoy seeing the looks and styles for Taiwan and how they relate to what is happening in the U.S. I watch videos, read articles and collect images from runways shows. Translating the trends from the runways to real life is so much fun; I really enjoy this part of my job.
Next, I run sales reports and compose analysis on what Motives and other beauty care items are currently sold in Taiwan. I look at the best performing colors by categories (for example, eye shadows and lip sticks) from popular items. I also research market trends so that we can always stay one step ahead!
When choosing new makeup shades, I have a composed makeup palettes that feature the current shades for each market. I place the top selling shades for the market, in order, in the palette. Then, I add the colors I am proposing to see if they are a good fit. Often times, I look for any colors/shades that are missing from a product line’s offering.
I also look at Skin Care and Personal Care product sales to determine if launching similar items will be worthwhile. Anti-Aging and Personal Care are large markets in Taiwan. It makes me happy to be able to launch an item that I know people will use and enjoy. From Cellular Laboratories® to VitaShield®, our brands are hugely triumphant in Taiwan.
Then, I brainstorm on what Motives, Personal Care and Anti-Aging items that are currently sold in the U.S. will work with both upcoming beauty movements and current products’ sales trends. It is really fun to find new and exciting colors and products for an international market in this respect. I get to be creative while finding a solution to the ‘what-to-launch’ problem!
Finally, I propose my launch-item suggestions to Loren, who looks at my research and decides if there is anything that she wants to add or change. It is great how involved Loren is in every aspect of augmenting the Beauty Care brands internationally. We get to work together to best decide how to grow Taiwan’s product offerings and that is so pleasurable!
Powerline: Why would you encourage someone to start a Motives business?
Amanda Wall: Makeup is supposed to be fun, right? While I have always been a girly-girl, I never used to wear makeup like I do now, before I started working for Motives. Now, I can’t stop talking to my friends, family (and sometimes complimenting strangers) about what Motives products I am wearing. If I was a Distributor, there is no doubt I would have much success because it is so easy to talk about and sell Motives. The product quality is top-notch, while still being affordable. We are always ahead of the trend with both color choices and product offerings.

Powerline: What’s your favorite product in the getting started kit?

I use this product almost daily. I am often complimented on how my eye shadow stays put all day, and it is because of the Luxe Crème Shadow.

The Luxe Crème Eye Shadows are applied so easily because it goes on smoothly and evenly and can even be applied with clean fingertips if I don’t want to use a brush.

Wow! Can’t wait to try the Luxe Creme Eyeshadow! I never tried it because I thought it would be too heavy looking on my eyes and would make me look ‘made up’ in an overdone kind of way. Is the 300 BV a monthly mandatory?? If and when you reach the 300 BV, what/how much is check for??
Hi Gia –
The 300 BV is a qualifying purchase amount, it is not a monthly requirement. It qualifies 3 BDCs for Master UnFranchise Owner. You don’t necessarily receive a check for reaching 300BV. Hope this helps!
